The "Walk for Children: 1 Malaysia', organized by ISKL's International Club is sponsored by Dell Global Business Center Sdn Bhd, HSBC Bank (M) Berhad and Citibank, supported by Nestle Malaysia Berhad, Allied Pickfords (M) Sdn Bhd, Expatriate Lifestyle magazine and GetActive Sdn Bhd and will benefit a registered, voluntary welfare organization for children and teenagers who have been abandoned, neglected, orphaned or abused – SHELTER HOME.

"This walkathon is our inaugural event to raise funds for charity and to unite Malaysian youth of all ages and cultures behind the 1Malaysia banner to support a very worthy cause," said Michael George, President of ISKL's International Club. "With the help of generous Malaysians and sponsors, we hope to raise RM100,000 to aid SHELTER in their noble cause."
Following the event, participants will be entertained by live bands, Rapper T' extrano with a special appearance by celebrity Hip Hop Rapper Caprice. We may not realize it, but our lives are surrounded by subsidies. Most Malaysians know that we have a fuel subsidy, but many of us don't know that essential items such as cooking oil, flour, sugar, education, toll, healthcare and electricity are all subsidized. Although subsidies are a form of financial assistance given by the Government to help lower our cost of living, they have their negative consequences.
Malaysia's total subsidy for 2009 amounted to RM74 billion which is equivalent to RM12,900 per household, and these include aid not only for the poor but the wealthier segments of society. Besides benefiting the wrong target groups, subsidies also result in leakage and abuse, and leads to over-consumption and over-production.
Malaysia is also one of the most subsidized nations in the world. We have more subsidies than countries such as Philippines, India, China and even Somalia! As a result of this continuing trend, it has resulted with Government bearing an enormous subsidy bill, which contributes to a rising national debt and creating long-term sustainability issue for our economy.
Subsidies have to be reviewed and rationalized in order to develop a more targeted plan so that they benefit the right demographics such as the poor and the vulnerable and not burden the future generation of Malaysians. This is integral to help move Malaysia forward and improve our quality of life, as we move towards Vision 2020.
You are all invited to attend the Open Day for the Subsidy Rationalisation Labs as Malaysians to have your say....

The National Cancer Society of Malaysia's Relay for Life (RFL) is a high-spirited event where everyone in the community join in the fight against cancer. Relay for Life began in 1985 in Tacoma, Washington when Dr Gordon Klatt walked for 24 hours to raise money for the American Cancer Society. He raised $27,000 that first year. Since then, RFL events around the world have raised billion dollars to support programmes eliminating cancer. To participate in RFL, you recruit friends, family, coworkers and neighbors to join in a relay team. In the weeks leading up to the event, each team member raises money by collecting pledges. On relay day, team members take turns walking around the track to ensure that someone is on the track at all times. We don't sleep that night because cancer never sleeps.
In each RFL, it starts with the survivor's lap, a testimony that so many people are surviving cancer. They walk the first lap around the track. The most inspirational time of the relay is the Luminaria Ceremony which happens at dusk when we honor cancer survivors and remember those who have lost their battle with the disease. A luminaria is a small bag filled with sand holding a small candle. When the candle is lit, the luminaria casts a warm, golden glow. All luminarias are placed side-by-side in the in-field around the track. After sunset, the luminarias are lit and remain lit throughout the night to light the way for walkers and to create a path of hope. RFL is also a celebration for caregivers who give their time, love and support to friends, family and neighbors who face cancer. RFL is a tobacco-free event. It gives NCSM the opportunity to 'walk our talk' and show the community how easy it is to follow our cancer prevention guidelines.

With a booming real estate market in Malaysia and Asia Pacific and with more and more people owning a property as well as an increase in people craving for good home quality products – it is more essential than ever to make your home ; your perfect gateway. Home & Garden Fiesta is an exclusive shopping event for new and existing homeowners. We look forward to your presence at the fair...

What is the impact of World War 2 - Should we prevent another world war?
These wars linked together the destinies of many diverse peoples in a way never seen before. Neither the Mongol invasions of the thirteenth century nor the great plague that devastated Europe in the fourteenth century had tied together the fate of so many. Barbara Tuchman has called World War 1 a 'burnt path across history'. Other thinkers have labeled World War 2 the 'Apoclypse'. Both events were so wide-ranging and compelling that they affected a broad cross section of the world's population. .
While European imperial nations succeeded in dismantling the Third Reich and defeated Japan, they failed to bring about lasting peace to the world...

AIDSAware – "Be The Message" HIV/AIDS Awareness Campaign & Memorial Exhibition Presented by PT Foundation, with support from Ruumz Causes
In conjunction with International AIDS Memorial Day 2010: Many Lights For Human Rights which falls on 16 May, PT Foundation with support from Ruumz Causes is proud to present "AIDSAware – Be The Message".
AIDSAware is a project to raise public awareness about various issues surrounding HIV/AIDS, especially the importance of safe sex. This campaign allows each and every one of us not only to share and spread the message, but to BE the message. The aim of this project is to collect 13,000 messages, one to remember each person in Malaysia who has passed away from AIDS over the years.
The messages will be recorded online at Ruumz.com and a selection will be exhibited at The Annexe Gallery in Central Market, Kuala Lumpur from Fri 14 to Sun 16 May, 2010. Already over 500 people have gotten involved to post their messages and pictures on ruumz and facebook pages. These also include celebrities such as Will Quah, Daphne Iking, Jaclyn Victor and Rozz Ritzmann. Click here to take part.
In Malaysia, 13 persons get infected daily, and to date 128,000 Malaysians live with HIV. Perhaps one of the biggest challenges facing Malaysia is lack of awareness about the disease, resulting in high-risk behaviours, stigma and discrimination. We are calling on all citizens, affected communities, organisations and government sectors to work together, to break down barriers and give hope to future generations.

The Actors Studio will be unveiling its most ambitious production to date and the fruit of a year-long collaboration with the Malaysian AIDS Foundation.
With a cast of 23 comprising Malaysia's top talents, an 8-piece band, 18 delightful songs (like ZAP, JUMBO SIZE and Lollipop), ADAM will be creating history on three counts - 35 record breaking performances, the first musical to highlight the HIV / AIDS issue and it is believed to be the first homegrown musical to emerge from the scene this year.
No propaganda.
No lectures.
No patronising.
No bullshit.
"Do you know, the first day he met you; his face was shining like a moon…He laughed at me, hold my hands, look into my eyes, with a smile, and I know, maybe this boy don't need me anymore? Auntie Noni in ADAM (played by Faridah Merican) Wedding preparations fill the air as Adam and Sylvia look forward to a lifetime together. But the preparations are not smooth sailing…
Sylvia spirals down an emotional roller coaster, as her inability to believe how lucky she has been to find Adam now is confirmed. She moves through friends, family, and strangers; their stories of life, death, and surviving provide comfort, horror, and love.
Their stories indirectly show the past, present, and future of her life if she chooses to still marry the sleeping Adam.
Adam is about the dangerous time we live in, of suspicion and fear of people and things we don't know. It is about compassion and strength, and how these qualities can turn the bleakest days into one with light, even if it is just a faint one.
Adam is about finding true love, and knowing that we can be very lucky after all.
Note: ADAM contains mature content. Recommended for Form 4 upwards.
